When Spencer Hamilton rushed to Manteo, North Carolina, he was determined to find the man who had killed his brother, Frank, in what was officially called a duck-hunting accident. But before he could act, the shooter, Ryan Bartell, turned up dead. Matlock travels to North Carolina to defend Hamilton, and there he teams up with an unexpected partner: local deputy Conrad McMasters.
