Episode Overview

Young Yakumo begins telling the story of the promise he made with Sukeroku. As a boy, he was taken in by the 7th generation Yakumo and given the name Kikuhiko. There he met Sukeroku, a strange child with a natural gift for rakugo who was determined to inherit the Yakumo name. Given the stage name Hatsutaro, Sukeroku was rough around the edges and unconventional, but his love for rakugo was unmatched. Alongside his complete opposite—the reluctant Kikuhiko—the two began their days of training together.
