Episode Overview
Title: The Bravest Tiger Is First Killed Plot: The Liang Shan Po rebels make off with a year’s tax revenue from Kuang Chow province. In response, Kao instructs Squire Kuang, a wealthy man with his own private army, to launch an offensive against them. The Squire deploys Ju Hai, a corrupt priest, as a spy to infiltrate Liang Shan Po. Ju Hai cleverly befriends Lu Ta, claiming he’s there to exorcise a malevolent spirit believed to be causing a plague among the rebels. While secretly mapping the defenses of Liang Shan Po, he sends Lu Ta away to confront a heartbreaking moment with his ailing mother.
