Barbara and Helena uncover the secrets surrounding Dinah, who also confronts her own history when her mother, Carolyn Lance, arrives in New Gotham seeking the daughter she left behind. Dinah is stunned to discover that Carolyn was formerly known as Black Canary, a protégé of Batman. At the same time, Helena finds out that Detective Reese is grappling with his own family troubles, as he becomes increasingly evasive about a dangerous mobster.
