As Nic returns to Chastain for her first shift, she is confronted by the arrival of her attacker in the ER, forcing her to face her past trauma directly. Meanwhile, Cain, who is in recovery, feels insecure about his condition and becomes focused on undermining Mina. On her first day, the new intern experiences a mix of challenges and successes, leaving Devon and Conrad suspicious that there might be more to her story than meets the eye.
