The investigation into the murder of former football star Robert Nichols uncovers a grim scene: he was found brutally beaten next to his car. Nichols had been en route to meet his sister and was reportedly fixing a flat tire when the attack took place. The only item missing was his pricey watch. Detectives track down a witness, Mike Jones, who first claims he didn’t see anything but later confesses to assisting Nichols with the tire. Suspicion arises around Jones, especially after they discover Nichols had significant gambling debts to notorious mobster Don Marsh, totaling £250,000. With his life at stake if he reveals the truth, Jones has strong reasons to keep silent about the murder he witnessed.
