The mission for the Earth Defense Force is straightforward: pilot the newly restored Yamato across 148,000 light years to the planet Iscandar and bring back the Cosmo-Cleaner D, a device that can restore Earth from its polluted condition. However, the crew faces a looming threat from the Gamilas, who will do everything in their power to thwart their efforts.
