The Tunnel (2013)
S17E17 The Salem House - 17
Episode Overview
A historically styled Federal fence is put up to replace the decaying pickets at the front of the house. Tom Silva uses an automatic morticing tool to install a new mortice lock on the front door. In the kitchen, Julia Clay is hard at work painting a diamond pattern on the floor, while decorative painter John Parsons is transforming the powder room walls into a faux library. We also explore the Peabody Essex Institute in Salem, where we view artifacts from the city's maritime history and original documents from the 1692 witch trials. Back at the house, our master carpenter fits a new full-light patio door in the family room for added natural light, using an innovative adjustable screw to secure the jambs. The crew then transports the restored bathtub upstairs to the master bathroom, where it beautifully complements the new toilet and pedestal sink. Our plumbing and heating expert has sourced antique-style chrome bath fixtures that meet modern standards.
