Queen Isabella successfully overthrows her husband, King Edward II, imprisoning him and declaring their adolescent son, Edward III, as the new king. In Kingsbridge, the town renowned from PILLARS OF THE EARTH, whispers spread that the king has been killed in captivity. Amidst the chaos, a mysterious knight arrives in Kingsbridge, searching for refuge. His presence will alter the destinies of the townspeople forever.
