In Tommy's backyard, a baby duckling emerges from its shell, and its first sight is Chuckie. Chuckie decides to take the duck under his wing, naming it "Herbert." Initially, looking after Herbert is thrilling, but the excitement soon fades, turning the responsibility into a chore. Meanwhile, Betty and her environmental group stage a protest against a condo development that has displaced Herbert's mother, while Grandpa focuses on a game of checkers, determined to claim victory.
