When a skull is discovered, she turns to Brennan for assistance in identifying it, fearing it could belong to either her boyfriend or the female guide who vanished alongside him. The team's investigation uncovers a history of domestic abuse linked to a jealous boyfriend, the local sheriff, and eventually reveals a counterfeiting operation hidden away in the desert.
