Episode Overview
After experiencing a profound personal tragedy, 25-year-old Theodore Roosevelt leaves behind the political scene of New York to seek a new life in the untamed Dakota Badlands, aspiring to become a cattle rancher amidst the Beef Bonanza. In this harsh landscape, his youth and frail physique make him vulnerable. Upon reaching the rugged town of Medora, he confronts a menacing gunslinger. Throughout the challenging forty-mile trek to claim his ranch land, Roosevelt is haunted by memories of his loss and faces off against the formidable landowner, the Marquis de Morés. With guidance from his lumberjack mentor, Bill Sewall, and his cowboy friend, William Merrifield, he successfully establishes the expansive Elkhorn Ranch. The trials of building Elkhorn shape Roosevelt into a genuine cowboy, setting him on a remarkable journey toward greatness.
