Episode Overview

In a rural Mississippi home, a man is discovered dead, having been shot four times with his own 9mm handgun. His 19-year-old son accuses his mother, Michelle Byrom, who is in the hospital, of orchestrating the murder. He alleges she hired a friend of his to kill her husband, promising payment from the life insurance money. Michelle is sentenced to death and endures 14 years on death row until a dedicated group of lawyers reveals a troubling history of domestic and sexual abuse, along with a confession that suggests another possible suspect.
