Squidward decides to enter the annual gardening competition, convinced he can win with a little effort and a lot of attitude. But his carefully planned plants quickly wilt under pressure, while SpongeBob's chaotic, joyful gardening style somehow produces a lush, thriving masterpiece. As the contest approaches, Squidward frantically tries to salvage his pathetic patch, only to realize that no amount of scheming can compete with pure, natural talent.
