Howard and Joanne Sharp are excitedly expecting a baby and, like many in their future society, are contemplating the controversial option of black-market genetic enhancements. The allure is a flawless child who can hold their own against other genetically modified peers. However, they are wary of the potential danger of Genetic Rejection Syndrome, a condition that affects one in 10,000 enhanced infants, resulting in monstrous outcomes. Undeterred, the Sharps decide to proceed with the enhancement, only to discover a chilling secret their close friends and neighbors, Tony and Fran Blake, have been hiding in their basement.
