Episode Overview
In the premiere episode of the series, the team delves into the realm of giants that inhabit our western seas. Just offshore from Cornwall, they examine the basking shark, the largest fish in Britain, reaching lengths of up to ten meters. Despite their size, little is known about these creatures, complicating conservation efforts. In a remarkable moment, the team finds themselves surrounded by a group of twelve sharks feeding on tiny plankton. Their journey then takes them north to the Isle of Man, where they collaborate with local scientists to collect shark DNA samples using a kitchen scourer to evaluate the sharks' genetic health. Along the way, they encounter a massive swarm of jellyfish. In South Wales, Tooni confronts a horde of giant spiny spider crabs, which can have a leg span over a meter. Tooni explains that these crabs come into shallow waters each year to mate. On Lundy Island, off the Devon coast, Frank investigates whether the island's No Take Zone
