Andy, along with his well-meaning but clumsy deputy Barney Fife, volunteer to assist in the search for a runaway prisoner. However, the captain of the state police dismisses the small-town sheriff's offer, underestimating their capabilities. Despite the skepticism, Andy and Barney remain determined to prove their worth in the pursuit.
