Plot

Lachlan MacAldonich, a self-proclaimed “lazy Scotsman,” was once the guitarist for a moderately famous 1990s rock band. Now, he lives a foggy, comfortable life working on an organic farm near Los Angeles. Each night, he drinks himself numb, stumbles home to his rundown apartment, and records a podcast about famous musicians’ tragic deaths. After one particularly heavy bender at a local bar, he’s arrested for drunk driving. This arrest, plus an old drug conviction, puts him at risk of deportation. His only chance to stay in the U.S. is to prove his absence would cause extreme hardship for a relative—forcing him to face long-buried relationships.
