Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Modrzyńska gained prominence in Polish cinema, delivering unforgettable performances in films directed by iconic filmmakers. Notably, she portrayed the character Dorota in Andrzej Wajda's "Pokolenie" (1955) and took on the role of Jagienka in Aleksander Ford's historical epic "Krzyżacy" (1960), solidifying her reputation as a versatile actress.

In the 1970s, Modrzyńska transitioned to smaller roles in films by emerging directors, including her appearances in "Droga w świetle księżyca" (1972) by Witold Orzechowski, "Rozmowa" (1974) by Piotr Andrejew, and "Zdjęcia Próbne" (1976), a collaborative work by Agnieszka Holland, Paweł Kędzierski, and Jerzy Domaradzki. During this period, she dedicated much of her energy to theater, particularly at the Nowy Theater in Łódź.
