Esper Hagen Andersen, born to actress Asta Esper Andersen and actor Paul Hagen, is a prominent figure in Danish theater. He honed his craft under the guidance of Gerda Gilboe and graduated from the Odense Theater School between 1968 and 1971. His stage debut occurred on September 14, 1967, when he portrayed Tommy in "Pippi Langstrømpe" at Det Ny Teater in Copenhagen.

Throughout his career, Hagen has performed at various theaters and revues, including Værkstedsteatret in Odense, Odense Teater in 1970, and ABC-Teatret from 1972 to 1973, along with performances at Det Danske Teater. A pivotal moment in his career came in 1972 with his role in "Rottefælden" at Svendborg Sommerteater, where he showcased his comedic skills. His performance led to a significant breakthrough, and in 1974, he returned to deliver a dual role as the church and traffic minister Kresten Damsgaard.

Hagen is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the ambitious assistant to Mads Skjern in the iconic series "Matador." In addition to his stage work, he has lent his voice to various characters in animated films, further showcasing his versatility as a performer.
